Dane Fliedner, MD, MPH is a Board-Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, and is working toward his certification with the Institute for Functional Medicine. He is 500-hour Yoga and Yoga Therapy teacher trained in India, and has has gone through extensive Kids’ yoga teacher training in Los Angeles.
Dr. Dane is a Southern California native who was originally drawn to medicine as a practical means to help people from different cultures and economic backgrounds. That led him to study Anthropology at U.C. Santa Cruz, as well as earning a Master’s Degree in Public Health while attending medical school at New York Medical College. After returning home to California to do his pediatric residency training at U.C. Irvine, he was able to finally realize his dream of serving the most needy patients by working in an under-served area of Long Beach. It was there he was honored to be chosen to receive a grant from the Medical Board of California as part of the “California Physician Corps.”
A growing family led him to again move away from home and begin working in the Dallas, Texas area. Frustrated by conventional medicine’s inability to effectively treat the many chronic health conditions in today’s children, he decided to switch gears and work in Pediatric Urgent Care. Later, he joined the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern’s medical school as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Although the work was interesting and exciting, he really began to miss the relationships with families that he had as a primary care pediatrician.
At that time, Dr. Dane’s own children were experiencing chronic health conditions of their own which, despite seeing many specialists, were not getting answers using the conventional medical model. Out of frustration and desperation, his kids saw an alternative healthcare practitioner, who effectively diagnosed and healed them after one visit, when they had seen numerous specialists and general pediatricians over the years and essentially got nowhere! This was a very humbling experience, and was ultimately the beginning of his receptivity to alternative paradigms of health and healing. It made him wonder what else the conventional model of medicine was missing. Perhaps alternative healthcare was the “missing link” that he had needed to help those children with chronic diseases that he had treated previously when he was practicing primary care.
Before returning back to Southern California, he and his family took a life-long dreamed of trip through Asia, where he was able to visit a number of pilgrimage sites, become a certified yoga teacher, study yoga therapy, Ayurveda and Reiki. He now hopes to help families and their children by combining the best of allopathic medicine for acute care needs, functional and holistic medicine for chronic medical conditions, and yoga and yoga therapy for mind-body-spirit medicine. In the near future, he will be continuing his education through ongoing training in botanical medicine, homeopathy and additional Ayurvedic training.
When he is not busy building his new medical practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters, surfing, and hiking. He also is an avid student of Eastern Philosophy and enjoys the opportunity to teach Indian Philosophy to high school students at a local Hindu temple every Sunday.

Our doctors support parents in their right to adopt an alternative vaccination schedule aside from the schedule suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics. There are alternatives to the standard vaccine schedule and we encourage an open discussion about the overall wellness of your children. There are many fears regarding vaccinations and their link to several chronic conditions, especially autism. We strive to educate and support our parents, so they can make sound, comfortable decisions regarding their children’s health.
